The chessboard is the world, the pieces are the phenomena of the Universe, the rules of the game are what we call the laws of Nature and the player on the other side is hidden from us.
Chess is a game of not only intellect and cunning, but of bouncing back after losses, practice, discipline and persistence. This statement proved true for the 15th Inter-house Chess Tournament held on 29th July’2022 at Suncity School. The students represented their house with vigor, determination and a thirst to win. The various twists and turns during the game had the audience on the edge of their seats and the opponents proved their mettle by overcoming the obstacles with wit and tenacity. At the end of their round, the opponents shook hands and congratulated each other on their brilliant plays. They also cheered for their teammates in other games.
The expertise that students have developed in chess at such a young and tender age is commendable and inspiring for all. Returning to in-person chess tournaments was also an impeccable experience for our students.
We would like to thank the accommodating guests for their time, our Director, Ms. Rupa Chakravarthy for guiding the students and enabling them to showcase their talent, the parents for their unyielding support and motivation, and the sports department for their hard work organizing the event.
The winners in all the four groups are – Group 1 (grades 1 and 2), group 2 (grades 3, 4 and 5), group 3 (grades 6, 7 and 8) and group 4 (grades 9 to 12):
